UGC Releases FAKE Universities List
2022-09-27Vide its notice dated 25 Aug 2022, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the latest list of Fake Universities. These universities are NOT empowered to confer any degree.
The notice reads “… following 21 self-styled, unrecognized institutions which are functioning in contravention of the UGC Act, have been declared as fake universities and these are not empowered to confer any degree.” 
As a Statutory body of the Government of India, UGC has the unique distinction of being the only grant-giving agency in the country which has been vested with two responsibilities: that of providing funds and that of coordination, determination and maintenance of standards in institutions of higher education.
