MHRD rolls back decision to conduct NEET Online and Twice a year

2018-08-21

With the formation of National testing Agency (NTA), it was earlier announced that starting 2019, NEET will be held in Online mode and Twice every year. However, it is learnt that the Govt, on Tuesday, has rolled back this decision. The exam will now be held as usual in offline (pen and paper based) mode, not online. And it will be held only once, not twice as was stated in a press release uploaded on NTA website (https://nta.ac.in/Download/nta-first-press.pdf).

It is learnt that the Health Ministry has stated that the public announcement about NEET was made without formal consultation with them. The Health Ministry had concerns about the schedule announced and also with the fact that going fully online puts rural and poor students at a disadvantage.

Expected dates for NEET

Online registration process : 1 Nov 2018 to 30 Nov 2018

Date of exam : 5 May 2019

Declaration of result : 5 June 2019

JEE Mains has seen no change and is expected to be held twice every year.
